Squatters
Oil on Canvas
1998
Unsold
This is one of my best paintings. It depicts a killing field where Aboriginal people are beheaded leaving the livestock protected. As the Squatters moved futher inland and cleared the land the Aboriginal people were slaughtered in the
thousands. Barbed wire fences were erected and this became a symbol of hatred to Aboriginal people, fences were hated by Aboriginal people. I put the Australian flag around this painting because this scene was one which happened all over
Australia.
